1908 Buick

  • 1908 Buick

    In January of 1908, Durant added a night shift to the factory to increase production. By march, 2100 men were building 50 cars every day. by May of 1908, Durant would hire 350 more workers to increase production to 80 cars a day. Production for 1908 was 8,820 cars in the U.S. and another 154 in Canada, making Buick the largest auto-maker in the world. Ford built 6,181 cars and Cadillac built 2,380 cars in 1908.

  • 1908 Buick and H.H. Bassett

    One of the biggest events in the auto industry took place in September of 1908, although it went largely un-noticed at the time. William Durant creates General Motors, and H.H. Bassett Joins Buick.
