Harold Lloyd is in hot water. The movie is a humorus look at the mother-in-law relationship to marriage, including one scene in which Hubby accidently chloroforms his mother-in-law and thinks that he has killed her. When she begins sleep-walking, he thinks that she has returned to haunt him.

In this scene hubby is taking the family for a spin in his new Butterfly Six, but the mother-in-law takes the owners guide out and starts giving instructions. The Butterfly Six is really a 1923 Chevrolet Superior.

Comedies in the early 20's were seen as an opening to a dramatic feature film in a double feature, not as the main event. To please the movie theatres, Lloyd produced Hot Water as a series of sequences on five reels that could be easily shortened. Have some fun with Harold Lloyd at his best.
