1914 Dodge

  • John and Horace Dodge

    John Francis Dodge (left) and Horace Elgin Dodge (right) Founded Dodge Brothers Company in Detroit, July 17, 1914. Tight knit brothers, and always working together, John would become the President of Dodge Brothers Company, and handle the business end. Horace would become Vice-President, and handle the engineering and production side of the new company.

  • 1914 Dodge Brothers

    On November 14, 1914, the first Dodge brothers car was completed and announced at the price of $785.00. The new Dodge was built on a 110-inch wheelbase and was 156 inches long. To accomodate various parts of the country with unpaved roads, the car was offered with a choice of front and rear axle widths, giving either a 56 or 60 inch track to the vehicle.

    Production of the new Dodge Brothers car began with 482 workers at the Hamtramck Plant. This factory photo was taken at the plant during early production of the new Dodge Brothers cars.
